This advertisement is from a popular Russian gun magazine called ``Roozhyo,'' which translates to ``Hunting Gun'' or ``Shotgun'' in English.  The text on the left reads ``Legendary American Rifle,'' and the diagonal print in the center reads ``AR15 in Russia!''  The store carrying these rifles is a chain called ``Arsenal,'' and there are three addresses shown - the top is in Moscow, the bottom left is St. Petersburg, and the bottom right is Vladivostok.


The features on this rifle falling under Sen. Perata and Handgun Control Inc's SB23:

This rifle, available for legal purchase in Russia, is considered an ``assault weapon'' in the State of California.  According to the provisions of SB23, ``any person who, within this state, manufactures or causes to be manufactured, distributes, transports, or imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives or lends any assault weapon, except as provided by this chapter, is guilty of a felony, and upon conviction shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for four, six, or eight years.''

Additionally, any person who merely possesses such a rifle in California without a permit will be subject to up to one year of imprisonment.
